Heartbreaking. So so sorry for your loss. I don’t trust people who don’t like pets; it’s a character flaw. We just adopted a dog in November after much cajoling. Lark is part of our family, and I already favor him over my kids sometimes (shameless confession). Lark, after all, has better manners.

My heart broke to hear the news and I am so sorry for your loss .
Your tribute to Smudge was wonderful…she would be so proud.
I think finding that soft part of our hearts is what dogs do best –
what they leave with us lasts a life time.
