Some Lucky Things About Nashville Airport: Gas, Live Music, and Good Karma

Forgetting to get gas before returning your rental car can be an expensive mistake. Most rental car companies will ding you for not filling your tank, charging three times the going rate per gallon. I seem to always forget until the last minute. Today I got all the way to the rental return and the guy there told me I was going to be charged for gas. Luckily, I picked the return line with no cars in it and told him, “I’m gonna get some gas.” If I had picked the other line, I would have had to wait until they cleared all of the ten cars in front of me. Nice of that guy to remind me!

My trip home from Murfreesboro, Tennessee became even more pleasant when I discovered they have live music in the Nashville airport right next to where people wait in line to go through security.

This is singer-songwriter Stephanie Layne, “an up and coming country artist.” Her performance was great. I had lots of time to kill since I got done shooting early and tried to snag an earlier flight (unsuccessfully). I strategically waited nearby for the security line to shrink while I enjoyed her music.

On my leg from Nashville to Charlotte I was in the coveted exit row, albeit in the middle seat. I joked as I sat down next to the lady sitting in the window seat that she should trade with me since she had no seat in front of her. She said, “You look like you need it more that I do.” And then she got up and traded with me!! I was like, “No, no, I was only joking!” – but she insisted. When we landed she said that she hoped it would bring her good Karma for catching her next leg, which was leaving in 20 minutes in another terminal. I said she should have tons for doing something so nice. That made my day.

Nashville sounds like a lovely place – not only did the rental guy save you some money on gas but they had live music to entertain you while waiting at the airport, hope the woman who changed seats with you had good Karma for the rest of her trip – all in all sounds very civilized.

It is nice to know that they got live music at the airport in Nashville. I have been dying to go to Nashville, TN and with this article you gave me an idea what to expect and it sounds exciting. The only pet peeve I have is I may not get to see Stephanie Layne there by the time I get to land at Nashville airport because with all the talents Stephanie Layne got, she might be next in line to perform at the big places like the Grand Ole Opry or other major venues. I do hope to see the live performance of Stephanie someday. I am glad I met Stephanie Layne on myspace and we are friends now. I enjoy her music now on myspace, let alone seeing her perform live.
